David Mason in Hueco Tanks 2014
Earlier this year we spent a month in the bouldering Mecca of Hueco Tanks. It was five years since I had last been in Hueco and what became apparent this time was how much I had progressed in that time. Holds that previously had been impossible to hold felt good, moves that I hadn't been able to fathom felt easy and climbs that before would have been out of my league were suddenly in the realms of possibility.
Highlights from the trip were flashing Liane V11 (unfortunately not captured on film) and climbing her partner in crime Li (V13), finishing off some classics like Full Service (V10) and Chablanke (V11) and checking out newly developed problems like Out of the Furnace (V10); a tall imposing limb of rock that lays suspended between others in the depths of West Mountain.
