Joe Kinder is posted up for the winter in Spain's Catalunya region and just sent his first major project, Seleccio Natural (5.14d) in the Santa Linya Cave. Joe writes on 8a, "After breaking holds and the route changing 20 times I am comfortable calling it 9a (5.14d). Great time trying this route with Black Tooth Tommy and learning the in's and out's on this monster. Seldom climbed on and represents one of the best routes in Santa Linya. Pure non-stop climbing with zero stopping spots for the meat of the route. A perfect-muscley-style on a 45º wall. I love this route." As a follow up to his performance yesterday on Seleccio Natural, today Joe ticked off Novena Puerta (5.14c) at the same cliff.

At Siurana, Italian Jacopo Larcher sent Jungle Speed (5.14d) for his second of the grade after his ascent of Southern Smoke Direct at the Red River Gorge last month. Unlike many of the monster pitches found at Siurana, Jungle Speed is relatively short and bouldery with a difficult intro leading to easier 5.13c-ish climbing. The route was established in 2010 by German Daniel Jung and has since been repeated by Pirmin Bertle and Sasha Gerzha. Click the images below for video of the latter two climbing the route.
