Sonnie Trotter: Ambrosia (V11) Highball

The Bishop Bouldering Blog reports that Sonnie Trotter has climbed the highball test-piece, Ambrosia (V11) in California’s Buttermilks.  Since the establishment of Ambrosia by Kevin Jorgenson over the winter of 2008/9, the boulder route has held the title of the proudest highball in an area known for highball bouldering.  Last winter Sonnie Trotter set out to climb the line and, if you follow Sonnie’s blog, you might remember that he ran into a hurdle.  While working the problem with Enzo Oddo and Ben Ditto, a key foothold snapped off, making the opening sequence a good bit harder.  Enzo apparently worked around it as he claimed the fourth ascent a short time later.  If I’m not mistaken, Sonnie’s ascent is the fifth ascent of the climb after Kevin Jorgenson, Alex Honnold, Isaac Caldiero, and Enzo Oddo.  Well done Sonnie!
