Last weekend the SCS National Championship was held at the Movement Climbing Gym in Boulder, Colorado. The successful event was action-packed and ended with Magnus Midtboe taking first place for the men and Sasha Digiulian taking the high podium for the ladies. The final line-up for the men had Magnus in first, Matty Hong in second, and Carlo Traversi in third.

Yesterday, Carlo Traversi posted a well-written account on his blog, recounting the events of the comp. After falling at the highest point on the finals route of all competitors Carlo thought he would be in first but ended up at third. After an appeals process, USA Climbing issued a formal apology to Carlo and recalculated the score. Carlo bumped up to second place and was offered second place prize money as well as the National Champion Title and a stipend for the World Cup in Italy.
Read Carlo’s detailed account at his blog.
Aside from the snafu in scoring, the event turned out to be a great success with both competitors and spectators complimenting the venue, route-setting, and atmosphere.
