Kairn.com reports that Robyn-Erbesfield Raboutou has sent Welcome to Tijuana (5.14b) in Rodellar, Spain. Just a few days ago, Robyn's daughter Brooke sent the route to become the youngest person ever to climb the grade of 8c or 5.14b. Robyn's son Shawn (then 13) sent the route last summer. Now that three out of four Raboutous have sent the route...dad must be feeling the pressure.
Robyn is a four time world cup climbing champion who repeatedly defended her title from 1992 through 1995. She was one of the first women to climb the grade of 5.14a way back in 1993 and since then has climbed quite a few more including ascents of the Rodellar 5.14a's Tripa de Conejo and Ixeia earlier this summer. At the age of 49, this is her first 5.14b.
Robyn coaches Boulder, Colorado's ABC Youth Team. Some of the team members are currently in Spain with the Raboutou family. Photo from the ABC blog: Austin, Isabelle, Coach Garrett, Shawn, Margo, Coach Robyn, and Brooke!
Another great photo from the ABC blog/Desnivel. 11-year-old Brooke Raboutou compares ape index with Dani Andrada.
