Spaniard Ramon Julian reports on his blog that he has done Mejorando Imagen, a 9a (5.14d) route in Margalef, Spain. It took him seven tries over three days to send the route. A look at Ramon's impressive tick list on 8a.nu reveals that this is his 30th 9a or harder route and that he's been one of the world's top sport climbers for over a decade.
Ramon has stood on World Cup lead podiums 37 times and won two world championships, in 2007 and 2011. He established one of the world's first 9a+ (5.15a) routes when he sent La Rambla in Siurana, Spain in 2003. In 2011, Ramon made a brief trip to the US for a World Cup climbing event. He finished poorly in the event but made up for it by onsighting Rifle, Colorado's The Crew (5.14c) to become the third person in the world, after Patxi Usobiaga and Adam Ondra, to onsight the grade.
