Last year, Paul Robinson sent nearly every established hard line in the Rocklands, which included the 2nd ascent of Fred Nicole’s Monkey Wedding (V15). This year Paul ventured out to a less-developed sector near Cape Town, South Africa with the goal of putting up several of his own hard test pieces. Paul started out slow (slow for Paul) adding a handful of problems in the V11-V12 range in an area called The Classroom. But his efforts seem to be gaining steam as Paul just reported that he finished his latest hard project.
Paul on Mirta (V14) his newest addition to the boulders above Cape Town, South Africa.
Dubbed Mirta, this new line takes a direct path out a steep face and calls for precision accuracy and tight core tension. On his scorecard Paul stated, “Wow...one of the coolest pieces of rock I have ever climbed on. A huge 45 wall on the mountaintop can’t get much better than this. A harder and cooler Nagual! Psyched!”
Paul is suggesting the grade of V14 for his latest FA.
Here are a few more pictures of Paul bouldering above Cape Town, and the ocean, in South Africa. All photos taken from Paul's blog where you can read more about his travels. Stay tuned for video footage of the line and more on Paul's latest sends.
