Paul Robinson's development of hard boulders around Cape Town, South Africa last year must have raised some eyebrows. The footage from Paul's trip showed boulders every bit as good as the more popular destination of Rocklands. Nalle Hukkataival and Dave Graham just flew in from Australia and Nalle didn't waste any time getting started on the boulders of Cape Town. On his first day out, he repeated Paul's A Simple Knowing (suggested at V15) in a 30-minute session. He rounded out the day with repeats of Honig and the Steady Plums (both given V13).
On his 27crags ticklist, Nalle suggested V13 for A Simple Knowing, V12 for Honig, and V11 for the Steady Plums. Nalle threw down the gauntlet regarding A Simple Knowing in a blogpost saying, "It’s a nice problem, but once again nowhere near the difficulty that I consider V15. On a related note, here’s a photo of Livin’ Large which still stands unrepeated after many strong climbers have tried it."
It could just be that Nalle is feeling ridiculously fit after a long trip to the boulders of Australia. While there, he came away with the first ascent of a V14 called Never Say Never at Mt. Arapiles as well as eight more first ascents in the V11 to V13 range.
