13-year-old Mirko Caballero has become the youngest climber to tick the grade of V14 with an ascent of Meadowlark Lemon Sit at Red Rock, Nevada. Mirko sent the V13 stand start in early January of this year and committed himself to returning for the full line. He wrote on Facebook, “DONE DEAL. Still can't believe it...Meadowlark Lemon sit V14 (8B+)!!!! I never worked sooo hard for a project. Took me another 3 trips after sending the stand, but today it finally came together. Nice job Paul Robinson on opening this one. One of the best ever! Ahhh!!!!!”

Meadowlark Lemon has received a lot of attention from top climbers since its first ascent by Paul Robinson just over two years ago. It’s now regarded as one of the best hard problems in America. Originally proposed as a V15, the grade is now settling in at V14 after numerous ascents. According to hardclimbs.info, Mirko’s ascent is the 12th following Canadian Sean McColl who sent the problem last month. McColl recently posted video of his ascent which you can watch by clicking the image below.
