For West Coast climbers, the American Alpine Club is hosting a great event near the world famous Buttermilk boulders of Bishop, California. The Highball Craggin' Classic will be the fourth Craggin' Classic event of the year. Events already held at the New River Gorge, West Virginia; North Conway, New Hampshire and Smith Rock, Oregon were great successes.

From the AAC: "Bouldering, Bluegrass, n' Beer! Join the American Alpine Club and our local and national industry partners for the Western Region's Fall Highball Craggin' Classic to be held in Bishop, CA on November 9-10, 2012.

This will be a very special Eastside event kicking off on the evening of Friday, November 9th with a showing of the REEL Rock Film Tour at Mill Creek Station. On the morning of Saturday, November 10th join us in the Buttermilks for a free local breakfast from Great Basin Bakery provided by Wilson's Eastside Sports including coffee provided by Black Sheep Coffee Roasters. When your belly is full, get your hands dirty during our Buttermilk Stewardship and Adopt-a-Crag project hosted by Friends of the Inyo, the USFS, and our friends at the Access Fund. Following the work project, enjoy some climbing time with professional climber Matt Wilder who will be present and bouldering around with our Buttermilk volunteers. At 5:30pm we will reconvene at Mill Creek Station for an evening Climber's Reception hosted by New Belgium Brewing Co. and a silent auction benefiting the Western Region's Live Your Dream Grant--our locally administered grant funding projects by local climbers looking to take their skills to the next level. Matt Wilder will put on a rad slideshow of his exploits on the rock and we'll cap it off with a bluegrass performance by our musical guest, The Trespassers! Don't miss the Eastside's climbing event of the year!
