Jimmy Webb and Suspension of Disbelief:

It has thwarted numerous strong climbers who have tried it. Its grade and mystery has continued to grow with each failed attempt. But, Jimmy Webb managed to nab the third ascent in a single day.

Dave Graham did the first ascent back in 2005 over a period of two days and graded it V13. It took Daniel Woods about 7 days to make the second ascent, and he upgraded it to V14. Enter Jimmy Webb who paid Eldorado Canyon a visit on May 4th and dispatched the problem in a single day.

Colorado is full of hard problems and Suspension of Disbelief is simply one of many. Why report it? Maybe because it has thwarted some of the local strongmen such as Paul Robinson, Jamie Emerson, and numerous others for extended periods of time. So when a problem has shut down people at the top of the game it begs the question about our outlook on style or grades. For now, we at least have another source of information as Webb has confirmed that he believes it is closer to Dave Graham’s original grade of V13.-Anthony Lapomardo
