During his trip to Rocklands, South Africa, German climber Jan Hojer amassed a ticklist that has possibly never been matched in such a brief period of time. From July 20 to August 7, little more than two weeks, Jan sent: three V14's, seven V13's, nine V12's, seventeen V11's, six V10's, and fifteen V8 and V9 problems. According to Kletterszene.com, Jan is still in Rocklands so this current ticklist is not complete. Highlights of his trip so for include:
Golden Shadow, King of Limbs, and Derailed (all V14)
The likely second ascent of the massive dyno Air Star (V13). This problem is the climax to the film below. Air Star was first sent by Kilian Fischuber and the footage was included in the film "Core."
A flash of El Corazon (V13 though Jan suggested V12).
A near flash of Sky (V14 though Jan suggested V13). Jan sent fourth try in just 15 minutes.
Flashes of Shosholoza, Green Mamba, and Brown Shadow (all V12).
Jan captured most of these ascents on film and put together the awesome 18-minute video below. The speed of the movie captures the rapid pace of Jan's tear through the boulders. He seems to just bound his way up V14's like the holds are monkey bars. Thanks for posting Jan, this is a great video.
