Snow, high winds, and terribly wet approaches can’t stop Ian from crushing in Joes Valley

Ian Dory has been camped out in Joe’s Valley and enduring a torrential down pour in order to finish up his winter tick list.  A November trip to Joe’s Valley with a terrible forecast seems rather odd, but the results have been amazing.

On his first day at the crag Ian dispatched Mask of God (V13), Ghost King (V10/11), and Ghost of War (V12). This was just a warm up because the next day Ian was able to dispatch one of his long-term projects Black Lung (V13).  This problem is one of the most prominent test pieces in Joe’s Valley and although it has seen numerous ascents it is still considered a landmark boulder problem.  Congratulations Ian.

The next day a storm hit, but not before he ran a lap on the classic highball The Wind Below (V8). Ian will be camped out at Joe’s for 5 more days before heading to his next destination.
