HPROCKS Music and Bouldering Festival March 5-6

posted by dpm on 03/01/2010

Tired of the same old climbing event?  Come down to "the dirty", for HPROCKS! this weekend.  Registration will begin at 5PM to give competitors time to get in the park, get set up, and return to the stage for the evening musical lineup featuring Dayzd and Leeanna Culp.  Music will play well into the night, but will end early enough to give competitors the needed rest to endure the next day's bouldering competition.

The following morning registration will begin at 8AM with the competition starting at 10AM. Live music will fill the air again with the "Horse Pens House" bands Skydog, Midnite Train, and Travis Posey keeping it southern fried or funky through the morning and afternoon hours.  The bouldering event will feature all your favorite problems, but with a bit of a twist. Instead of claiming your best 12 -  the strategy here is to do as many as you can within your given range.  check out the hprocks website for specifics.  As the arms and day fade from the 6 hours in the fields the sounds and stage presence of the Lenoir Swingers Club rock it out to revitalize the body.  Vendors, gyms, and shops such as First Avenue Rocks, The North Face, Five Ten, Alabama OutdoorsMountain High OutfittersEvolv, Friksn, Black Diamond, Metolius, Dolomite Climbing Bags, Voodoo, Dead Point Magazine and Mammut will all be there with the best gear on the planet.  Don't miss Andy Wellman with Greener Grass Publishing who will be there with copies of the new HP40 Guide Book.

Be sure to bring some loose cash for the high gravity from Good People Brewery and BBQ from Jim and Nicks.  All proceeds go directly to the SCC and Alabama Bouldering Fund so you can feel good about your excesses.
After the awards, the music will continue with The Incredible Sandwich and Jesse Payne who will close it out for the event late in the night.
