Chris Webb Parsons has done the second ascent of Daniel Woods’ Desperanza (V15) in Hueco Tanks, Texas. Desperanza is a lower start (approximately V7) that leads into Esperanza (V14). Webb Parsons notes on his blog: “I’m here when I should really be training for the World Cups, so even if I don't climb anything this trip my main goal is not to get weaker or out of shape. (edit) Even if I end up climbing the full line (Desperanza) I will try to do some laps on it as its good power endurance training.” Regarding the grade he writes, “I’m not sure if the full grade of V15 is correct for this boulder, but being that is a tad harder than Esperanza maybe V15 is correct? I don't know?”

At Hueco with Chris is his girlfriend Alex Puccio who has already sent Sunshine (V11) and claimed the second female ascent (after Claire Bell) of Full Service, the benchmark Hueco V10. Also along on the trip is one of the UK’s top boulderers Shauna Coxsey. Eighteen-year-old Shauna recently sent her first V12 which you can read about and watch here. Webb Parsons recently relocated from Australia to the UK to train and be closer to the majority of World Cup events in Europe. Black Diamond put together a nice video of Chris training and bouldering near his new home which you can see here.
