Chris Sharma on Mother Earth

Another 9a+ (15a) has fallen at the hands of Chris Sharma. His newest test piece, Pachamama is located on the same wall as another of his 9a+ additions, Papichulo. Pachamama is usually translated as "Mother Earth" but a more literal translation would be "Mother Universe".

The route ascends a 50-meter section of limestone on small tufa pinches and hideously poor underclings. There was some debate about the grade of the route because Chris felt it was significantly harder than Papichulo, but ultimately, he gave Pachamama the same grade because the stamina route was less his style.
