Charlie Barrett Sends a New V13 in Rock Creek

With temperatures on California's eastside dropping, the action in the Buttermilks and the surrounding areas will soon kick into high-gear. The first salvo of the season marking the “sending time” came from Charlie Barrett at a small local area close to Mammoth known as Rock Creek. Rock Creek is composed of 8-9 boulders that sit within a small talus field and hundreds of aspen trees. The new problem dubbed The Prow Project has been high on Charlie’s tick list for the past two seasons.

 

 

The line is a sit to Compression Session (V9) which requires a huge amount of compression, body tension and some dynamic slaps to complete. The crux of the problem requires squeezing a good arete with the right hand and terribly glassy undercling with the left, then moving to a horrible sidepull and a slopey pinch that had to be hit just right with a bad thumb catch. Charlie continues to tear up projects on the eastside so look for more hard sends to follow.
