I’m sure I’m not the only one that’s dreamed of having a boulder in my backyard, preferably one or two, roughly the size of a perfect Buttermilk egg like the Mandala boulder. But this story out of Italy is a reminder to be careful what you wish for.
A beautiful farm home at the foot of the mountains in South Tyrol, Italy, was smashed to pieces during a landslide caused by recent heavy rains. A couple of large boulders cut loose from the cliff band above the home and tumbled like bowling balls directly toward, and through, the house.
Here's the beautiful mountain chalet, nestled beneath a sweet limestone crag that you've always dreamed of living near.
And here's what it looked like after some Grandma Peabody wannabe had her way with it.
Grandma Peabody plowed right through, narrowly missing the main living portion of the home.
A smaller nugget stopped short. Who wants a sit-start problem in their kitchen? I do!
After crashing through the house, Grandma Peabody set up shop right next to Grandpa, another large block that fell from the mountain, presumably before the house was built.
Perhaps the biggest one of the three, this monster stopped just inches from the back door. It's going to take a little scrubbing to get the dirt off but the arête looks sick and the approach is minimal.
