Andrea Szekely, on summer break from her studies at Stanford University, has ticked the second 5.14 of her trip to Rodellar, Spain. Pata Negra (5.14b) is Andreas first of the grade, though she's previously sent five 5.14a's. In 2007, at the age of 18, Andrea sent her first 5.14a with Omaha Beach at the Red River Gorge. During her trip to Rodellar last year, she sent Geminis, Maskoking, and Ixeia, (all 5.14a). This year she warmed up with an ascent of Tripa de Conejo (5.14a) before ticking her hardest route to date.
