Alex Honnold Gets the 2nd Ascent of Ambrosia.

Alex has repeated Kevin Jorgeson's Ambrosia (V11) in Bishop, California

 

Alex Honnold just pulled off the second ascent of Kevin Jorgeson's Ambrosia (V11). The line, which Kevin sent last year, gained its notoriety from BigUp Productions latest movie Progression, where Kevin could be seen taking repeated falls from 20+ feet. Although a boulder grade was assigned to the problem many see it as a solo.

 

 

The line is striking, involving a painfully crimpy entrance into a slopey dish followed by a committing top out. Alex sussed the line on top rope and was able to find an easier sequence for the bottom sequence, utilizing a wide pinch. The crux may check in at the bottom of the line, but a V7 boulder problem and several more feet of climbing guard the summit.

 

 

Also while in Bishop Alex was able to send Hauron and the Sea of Stories (V12), Evilution Direct (V11), Bubba Butt Buster (V11), and Sharma Traverse (V10), not bad for a guy known primarily for his solo efforts.
