Adam Ondra has onsighted L'Avaro (5.14c) at the Italian crag Tetto di Sarre. This is Ondra's seventh onsight of the grade. Although Adam's 5.14c onsights may have become commonplace, this one comes with an interesting twist.

At the 2011 IFSC lead World Cup in Chamonix last weekend, Ondra shockingly failed to qualify for finals. But shortly after, on his way to the World Championships in Arco, Italy, he stopped for some climbing and busted out a 5.14c onsight. Perhaps gym climbing and outdoor climbing are not as similar as we think? Oddly, Planetmountain.com suggests that the route L'Avaro "has all the power-resistance characteristics of a comp route." Oh, the irony. It will be interesting to see how Ondra performs this week at the Arco Rock Legends World Championship, where in just the past few hours he did qualify for the semi-finals in bouldering. Don't forget to tune in to IFSC.tv for live coverage of the events throughout the week.
